Book of the Month Club
Purpose
The Columbia Book of the Month Club was created to encourage and foster a love of reading for instruction and pleasure in our students.

Process
Students in the book club are required to read and respond to the book on a response log. All students who submit a completed response log will be invited to attend the Book of the Month Chat. During the chat, students will eat lunch with the Media Specialist to discuss the book of the month. The discussion will be cenetered around ELA standards that focus on the text, themes and story elements. The media committee will select 2 exemplary reponses from each class.

Participation
Participation in the Book of the Month is voluntary but we encourage all our students to participate. Research has proven that the more children read and write about what they have read, their reading and comprehension ability will increase.
